Challenge

Create a Brand Identity for Netflix's Creative Labs Team.

Assembled from a diverse array of talents including creative directors, strategists, producers, data enthusiasts, boundary-pushing innovators, and artists, Netflix Creative Labs collaborates with various internal teams and external partners to reimagine promotional creatives within the Netflix ecosystem. Utilizing methodologies such as A/B testing, creative workshops, and extensive research and analysis, Creative Labs seeks to continually evolve and optimize creative outputs. Additionally, they engineer creative algorithms and internal tools to streamline processes, allowing for more strategic creative exploration. Tasked by this dynamic team, I spearheaded the design and development of their brand identity.

What was created?

An Identity that helps put a face on an important internal organization

Throughout the iterative design process, I explored four rounds of conceptualization, each delving into vibrant typography, geometric forms, and subtle nods to the iconic Netflix logo bump. Serendipity played a significant role in the final design decision, as the incorporation of colored bands into the logo emerged from an unexpected twist. While experimenting with horizontal bars in one of the concepts, a fortuitous accident occurred when I inadvertently shifted the bars 90 degrees, resulting in a striking resemblance to the colored bars seen in the logo animation.

Results

Created a dynamic logo that created immediate impact for the internal organization.

Engaging in this project was immensely enjoyable, and I’m thrilled to have played a part in elevating the organization’s presence within the Netflix ecosystem through this design endeavor.
